Revd Deborah Walton

Team Vicar (designate)

Following the interview in November 2023, we are pleased to announce that The Revd Deborah Walton, currently Vicar of the PEW Group Benefice and Deanery School Chaplain in the Diocese of Lichfield, will be joining us as Team Vicar and Team Missioner. She will be the Parish Priest of the churches of the Flegg North district group - Horsey, Martham, Repps cum Bastwick, Somerton, and Winterton on Sea ,and has a wider remit for mission across the team. Information on Deborah’s licensing will follow in due course but in the meantime please do keep Deborah and her husband Pete in your prayers.

Deborah is currently part time Vicar in a rural benefice of 3 churches in North Shropshire. She has another part time role as Deanery School Chaplain in the two secondary schools in the Deanery. With experience of rural ministry and chaplaincy with young adults and young people, Deborah is very much looking forward to joining the team at Flegg Parish Churches. She is known as an innovative missioner working for 4 years as a lay Pioneer Minister before ordination.

Deborah’s first career was as a lawyer and it was while studying law, many years ago, that she met Pete, her husband. Pete is a professor of insolvency law at Wolverhampton University. He writes, teaches and lectures internationally. They have an adult son, Caleb, who lives in Wolverhampton where he is a Police Officer. Two lively young spaniels keep them busy. While not working or walking dogs, Deborah enjoys travel and is interested in history and current affairs and dabbles in creative arts and crafts.
